Through many conferences and training sessions, the word "at-risk" is used to describe children experiencing difficulties functioning in society. I agree that there are many at-risk children, but it has become clear to me that we are missing the real issue: Many children are past "at-risk"; they are wounded. Their deep scars of emotional, physical and mental pain are stuffed deep inside in the hopes that they will go away. Unfortunately, they do not go away. Instead, they emerge in many forms of dysfunctional behaviors that are disruptive and counter-productive.
Someone once asked me what it is that I am trying to "sell". The answer is simple . . . HOPE.
Our seminars are designed to equip those working with wounded children with practical information and doable solutions to increase academic and life success. It is also our desire to offer an engaging atmosphere that will leave participants feeling inspired and encouraged in their efforts in working with these children. A variety of session topics are available that can be geared toward teachers, administrators, counselors, therapists, social workers, foster parents, etc.
